Kate Lee is a talented singer-songwriter, playing numerous instruments for numerous Boston based bands. Her first band Kate Lee & The Opposites Attract released an album through The Whitehaus Family. Kate and I had been hanging out, wanting to make music, but lacking a name or instruments. Actually, I think she had instruments, I had a crappy Roland 8 (YES 8) keyboard and had been making bedroom tapes for a while then. I remember earlier that day watching Paula Abdul on YouTube and saying "Hey, you should call yourself Kate Lee & The Opposites Attract" and that is how they were born. Though inactive for some time now, Kate has emerged in a slew of new bands, namely The Points North and Gracious Calamity, who will be doing a summer tour across the U.S. In August, they will be gracing Chicago with their presence at Weirder Park in Wicker Park (whoever can explain as to where the hell that is, it would be appreciated). I'm pretty excited to see my friend as well as her band, as it's been years since I last saw her. Here are some mp3s of her work.
