Sia has posted 6 full tracks on her website from her upcoming album We Are Born. It's kind of hard to get a feel from the album by only hearing half, but it seems full of straightforward pop songs* that will probably be a great summertime listen. Sia will also be setting out on a world tour in April, so you'll probably get to hear the rest of the album sooner than the June release date.
Take a listen to a couple of the songs here and jump over to Sia's website for the rest and her tour dates.
*When I say pop you know I mean like pop in the good way, not pop in the Ke$ha-Katy Perry-messy garbage sort of way. Speaking of pop..here's Sia's take on Britney's Gimme More.
Bernardo Santarelli aka Berlin-based weirdo musician Noisy Pig will be releasing a new EP titled Replica on March 15. Replica is a 6 song limited edition CD/digital release and features collaborations from Stereo Total's Brezel Goering and Bratmobile/Partyline's Allison Wolfe. The CD version also includes a video and a "Replica origami box" so if you like more bang for your buck, you might wanna get the physical release.
In the meantime, check out a track from Replica, download an unreleased Noisy Pig remix from Hawney Troof and visit Noisy-Pig.com for more details on shows and stuff!

So, I'm really bummed out that we aren't gonna make it to SXSW this year. First of all, I've never been and think it's about time I go. Second, who doesn't wanna see TONS of awesome bands/artists/djs/films/whatevers all in one place? And besides all that it's so fun to see friends, not work and be wild for a week. BUT...I'm not going. However, there's always next year (and maybe next year will be even better) and MAYBE you'll even see some sort of Young Creature/Soul Ponies collabo!
However, this is 2010 so let's forget about next year for now and check out some of the stuff that would surely be on our schedule this year.
Wednesday Hunx and His Punx @Headhunters 11:35 PM Maluca @Mi Casa Cantina 1:00 AM

OBVIOUSLY there are tons more, but these are some recommendations to start with. For those of you going, have a drink (or 5) for me!
The video for Goldfrapp's Rocket was released a couple of days ago and features Allison Goldfrapp blasting a person (in a duck tape mummy suit) off into space. There are also some futuristic dancing girls and lots of purple sky. Who knew a song about sending someone away on a rocket would result in a video where someone is sent away on a rocket? Deep. Either way, the video is nice to look at and it has a sense of humor, so I'm not a hater.
Rocket comes out March 8 and you can pick up Head First March 23 on Mute, but check out these sweet remixes RIGHT NOW.

Owen Pallett has released a (very slightly NSFW) video for Lewis Takes Off His Shirt from his latest album Heartland. Jason masks, witches, knives, orange Crush and some sweet animation all make appearances, so take like 5 minutes and check it out!
Also enjoy the audio version of Lewis Takes Off His Shirt and the Simon Bookish remix of Keep The Dog Quiet.
It's only been a week or so since we mentioned CREEP's remix of Baghdaddy's Hot Shit, but they are already back with another remix. This time they've dedicated their dark electronics to a rework of the all girl British band Wetdog and although there's really not much that you will recognize from the original version, it's probably a great indication of what we can expect from CREEP. Either way, I'm really liking this sound right now and I'm definitely looking forward to more from Lauren Flax and Lauren Dillard as CREEP.
Even though last time we wrote about SSION we got dissed on twitter (apparently we aren't 'cool' enough to post about Cody Critcheloe or SSION?) we're still gonna post about SSION. In fact, I hope everyone posts about SSION because without people spreading the word about indie/underground/weirdo artists nobody would know who or what a SSION is, or alot of other awesome bands/artists/whatevers for that matter.
Anyways, SSION released a video for their song Clown today. The video is a re-edit of clips from SSION's BOY and looks SPECTACULAR. I didn't get a chance to see BOY when it screened in Chicago, so I'm hoping they release a DVD version or something because it looks amazing.
Enjoy the video for Clown and the Glass Candy remix of the song and check out the trailer for BOY too!
CREEP is a new project from Brooklyn's Lauren Flax and Lauren Dillard of Dreamburger. Although there are a couple of clips of the duo's original stuff on their Myspace page, their first release into the "blogosphere" is an awesome remix of Baghdaddy's Hot Shit. Can't say I've ever heard the original, but I think I like the remix better.
If the clips and remix aren't enough to be excited about, they've also recorded two songs with Romy Madley Croft on vocals for their upcoming release on new label TriAngle Records!
Check out the video for Hot Shit, a XX remix and some other spooky jams since I've been loving this witchy stuff lately.
Just because something is old, doesn't mean it isn't good. In fact, the opposite is often true. I love sharing new music, but sometimes it's fun to dig in the virtual crates and bring out something a little older. So, here's a mix that the fabulous Kim Ann Foxman did for Beats in Space in 2008! It's chock full of classics, so it is just as good now as it was then.
Check out part 1 for Kim Ann's mix and part 2 for the transition to Beats in Space's Tim Sweeney. I've also included a couple of individual tracks from the mix so enjoy some oldies but goodies this evening!

If you are a reader of music blogs...which you probably are since you're reading this one...you've probably heard some CFCF remixes. Montreal's Mike Silver (AKA CFCF) has already turned out great remixes for HEALTH, Crystal Castles, Fan Death, Sally Shapiro (plus a bunch of others!) and now you can add Kingdom's Mind Reader to the list.
The CFCF remix brings the energy down a little bit, but keeps the vocal pretty much in tact, making it sound more like a fresh r&b song than the dancefloor jam that is the original. Good stuff!
Check it out along with a cover of Fleetwood Mac's Big Love below! AND don't forget to pick up the limited edition 10" of Mind Reader on Acephale!
Fans of Sigur Ros must know by now that frontman Jonsi will be releasing his first solo record Go this coming April. Back in December we heard the first single Boy Lilikoi and now we're getting another taste of the record with the video for Go Do. Although I've never been a big fan of Sigur Ros, I'm enjoying what I've heard so far from Jonsi's album. Maybe it's the English? Maybe it's Nico Muhly? Who knows.
Anyways, take a look at the new video and enjoy some music Jonsi has made.
We've been hearing snippets of Kingdom's Mind Reader for quite a while now, but it's finally out...with remixes! The digital release came out yesterday and features remixes from Todd Edwards, Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990. The 12" is coming soon on Fool's Gold and you can order a limited edition 10" of Mind Reader with You as a b-side from Acephale now.
Check out the L-Vis 1990 remix here and buy the record for the rest!
Answer: "Their music explores the worlds of house, experimental rock, no-rave, punk, soul, and acid. Their music, costumes, and video work reference many elements of queer history and culture." (-CBC Radio 3)
Besides general awesomeness, this is how you can attempt to describe the Canadian four piece band of musicians/filmmakers/artists known as Kids on TV.
Formed and based in Toronto, Kids on TV have been pumping out the queer jams, videos, performances, graffiti, rock operas, bathhouse shows and tons of other totally awesome-totally gay stuff since 2003. They've worked Boy George, Man Parrish and Yo Majesty, provided remixes for Lesbians on Ecstacy, played shows with Gang of Four, Ladytron, Crystal Castles, Les Georges Leningrad and tons of other good bands and they're signed to Chicks on Speeds records. Pretty impressive stuff!
They released their first full length Mixing Business with Pleasure in 2007, an EP called Shape Shifting Mutants last year and are working on their next album Pantheon to be released in the near future. If you haven't heard Kids on TV, their music is totally dancefloor friendly, but that's not all their trying to do. You can hear punk influences, tripped out rock, shoegazey sounds and indie electro (not to mention a cover of one of the YoungCreatures' faves, Goodbye Horses) all rolled up into an art (bath)house package!! SO...if you're like me and you just discovered Kids on TV you've got a lot of catching up to do!
To get us started I've included a couple of rad videos the Kids on TV crew made and a remix of their song Poison. You will also notice links to a not quite-SFW video for their cover of Roxy Music's In Every Dream Home a Heartache and a REALLY NSFW Super 8 film the band made-both of which you should totally check out. For a psychedelic journey via the internet and more music jump over to their Myspace page and for all the happenings and history visit their website.
I'm really excited that we've been able to make friends with Kids on TV! Being able to share the work of bands like Kids on TV is EXACTLY why we do this blog, so you better believe we will keep you posted with updates on their new album and any other good stuff!
Sia, everyone's favorite Aussie, has announced North American and European tours to support her upcoming album We Are Born. All I know is if Sia's version of You've Changed is any indication of the quality of the upcoming record, We Are Born is definitely something to look forward to and the live show will surely be a great time! As a side note for those superfans out there, word is Sia will be tweeting passwords to buy presale tickets for the tour, so follow her on Twitter to get in on that.
Check out the North American tour dates and a few songs to get you excited!

Cypher in the Snow were a brilliantly strange all dyke punk band from the Bay Area in the '90s. They released several 7"s (Badass and Free, a Free to Fight split with Sleater Kinney, and So I Heard You Have an STD...) plus the full length album Blow Away the Glitter Diamonds Stolen From the Crown. The band, which had a few different line ups, featured Anna Joy Springer (Blatz, The Gr'ups, and author of The Birdwisher), Daniela Sea (later on The L Word), Ulla Imd, Chloe Sherman, Margaret Hitchcock, Shari (of Harum Scarum), and Elitrea Frye, amongst others. They also made one of the goriest (& yes, badass) 7" covers I've ever seen:
Cypher in the Snow are truly indescribable- they need to be heard. While definitely a punk band, they featured banjo, trumpet, and accordion as well, conjuring a sound unlike any heard before or since. Take a listen to this song from their So You Have an STD... 7", and then go find yrself a copy of Blow Away the Glitter Diamonds asap!
Brontez Purnell's post Gravy Train!!!! project The Younger Lovers have made a video for the track Sha-Boo-Bee from their Newest Romantic LP. The video is a cute Super 8 accompaniment to a stand out track on the awesome queer punk/"gay-rage" record. You can buy Newest Romantichere and check out the Sha-Boo-Bee (or maybe Sha-Boo-Lee? conflicting internets!) video and another song from the record below!

As a cast member of UK's Celebrity Big Brother the S-O-V opened up to a fellow "celebrity" about girlfriends, ex-girlfriends and how she hasn't had a boyfriend in ages. I'm pretty sure anybody who has ever even heard of a lesbian could pick up on Sov's queerness, but it's cool she was open about it...especially in such a casual way.
I'm really glad there wasn't some sort of "I'm a Dyke" cover of URB magazine (or whatever the hipster equivalent of People would be) that we had to deal with. Duh Lady Sov's queer. Nobody's shocked...just like nobody was shocked when Lance Bass, Adam Lambert or Ellen or Rosie or any other obviously gay person "came out". Newsflash - You guys didn't have to come out because WE HAVE SEEN YOUR FACES. Did anybody believe those gay mugs were engaging in heterosexual behavior? NO.
Anyways...any uncertainty about Lady Sovereign has been officially cleared up.
Watch the video to hear it for yourself and check out some of the biggest midget in the game's tunes below!
