Hot Chocolate Boy

So I was reading one of the blogs I read (Big Stereo) and I came across this video from a band called Boy of Girl (formerly Moon Unit) for a song called Hot Chocolate Boy. I was like, "cool, an electropop/whatever version of Beat Happening's Hot Chocolate Boy, that sounds sort of interesting." Not so. It IS NOT a version of Beat Happening's song at all! It's not even a cover of the Hole cover of Hot Chocolate Boy. It's just another song called Hot Chocolate Boy. Who's gonna name a song Hot Chocolate Boy when there's already a song called Hot Chocolate Boy? It's not like that is a common phrase.

To be fair though, Boy of Girl do mention on their Myspace blog that the song is inspired by The Smiths, Beat Happening, and "the punk lust teen spirit that defines the idylic time in a young music fan's life when they hang out all night with their crush, listening to their favourite songs." That's cute and all, but I don't hear it.

Anyways,

Here's the Boy of Girl video for a song called Hot Chocolate Boy that I can't decide if I like or not, Beat Happening's Hot Chocolate Boy, and for good measure, a Youtube video of Hole's cover medley of The Germs' Forming and Hot Chocolate Boy.

(It's cold and rainy so it's a hot chocolate kind of day)
