Just got a message from Electrosexual reminding us about his newest song 'Devolution'. Totally meant to post this video ages ago--especially since it's made up of stills and clips from Liquid Sky, one of my favorite movies--but things happen and blogging gets neglected.

Gossip about Gossip

My upstairs neighbors are jamming to "Rock You Like a Hurricane", I'd kind of like to hear the Gossip cover that.

Although that's probably not going to happen, but Beth Ditto did talk about some details of the upcoming Gossip record during an interview she did for the latest issue of Out Magazine.

In the interview Beth let it be known that "Music for Men", the band's 4th full-length record, will be coming out June 22 and was produced by Rick Rubin. Rubin, as you probably know, has produced a song or an album for pretty much everyone you've ever heard of so who knows what to expect from the new Gossip album!

Actually, I do. Out Magazine described it only as Out Magazine could by saying: (the album is) "Reportedly sprinkled with more of that Europop-disco sound that has served Kylie Minogue so well...". I kind of think that's the dumbest description of anything I've ever heard, but if that means they are making a more dance oriented record, I'm all for it! I played the remixes from their last album to death, so I can only imagine good stuff to come from this.

The first single off Music for Men, "Heavy Cross" is slated for release June 15 and the Gossip will be touring later this Summer. Can you wait? Me neither!

Brand new song from MEN!

So, you all know MEN right? Of course you do!

Well...get excited because they just sent us their BRAND NEW song Credit Card Babie$!!

I was already a big fan of MEN's brand of dance music, but this song (and their other new song Off Our Backs) takes it to the next level! These songs have more of a post-punk/disco thing going on and might just be even more infectious than their previously released songs. Also-- as awesome as Credit Card Babie$ is already, I'm excited to hear the remixes that are probably being started right now! These songs are absolutely made for the dancefloor!

Besides making the songs you can't wait to dance to at your local sweaty dance party, MEN always have something to actually SAY with their music...so be sure to check out the lyrics on their Myspace page!

The Deep Red

I'm so excited! I'm so...scared! Okay, I'm not really scared...but Deep Red is scary good!

Deep Red features Nomi Ruiz, Andrew Raposo, and Morgan Wiley (all of Hercules and Love Affair) and are kind of like H&LA's sort of gothic sister. Okay, so they aren't really goth at all, but their sound on the single Fun Girl is definitely darker than H&LA. Maybe it's just me, but the bassline and cadence of the song makes me think of the Smashing Pumpkins' song Zero (or the reworked version LeCastlevania did). I somehow don't think that's what they were going for, but that's okay.

I'm a really big fan of dance music or whatever that has a mysterious and slightly creepy feel so I have high hopes for Deep Red...and I'm pretty sure they aren't going to let me down!

Word is Deep Red will be releasing the 12" of Fun Girl sometime soon and they are currently booking a U.S. tour, so check back for info on shows in your town!
