Just Say No

In response to the state of Maine voting down gay marriage, Zack from TheNewGay.net caught up with the Hidden Cameras and got them to perform their 2004 song "Ban Marriage". The thought is, if gay people can't get married maybe nobody should be able to get married.

Personally, I think there are a lot of bigger and more important issues than gay (or straight) marriage in this country and that marriage is an antiquated religious rite and property ownership formality.  Besides that, I kind of like that marriage is one less boring thing gay people have to deal with...BUT... I do realize that it's important to a lot of people and there are logistical things like tax breaks and hospital visits (and whatever) that come up that we shouldn't be denied. Either way, joke or not, I'm on board with the Hidden Cameras' idea to just ban marriage altogether.

Here's the video of the Hidden Cameras singing their song (along with former member/solo artist Gentleman Reg) and check out The New Gay for other gay stuffs.

Thanks Zack!

From the moment I was taught to resist the education

The Hidden Cameras are not your average queer/queer friendly band. Described as "gay church folk music" by their leader Joel Gibb, The Hidden Cameras go balls deep into gay culture. They sing songs about fisting, golden showers, fucking, gay love, and marriage all over symphonic, lush landscapes. After a 3 year absence with the release of "AWOO", The Hidden Cameras are set to return in September with the release of "Origin: Orphan" on Arts & Crafts Records. Think of them sort of like a gay Harry Nilsson or a less gay Barry Manilow. Anyways, here is the first released track from their upcoming album. The song is called "Walk On" and I sort of really wished it was a cover of "Walk On By" by Dionne Warwick who fucking SPOKE AT THE COLUMBIA COLLEGE '09 GRADUATION AND I TOTALLY FORGOT TO GO. Anyways, I totally have a mancrush on this band and have for years. I can play melodica if you ever need me, Joel.

The Hidden Cameras - Walk On

The Hidden Cameras - Awoo

Just for shits and giggles.
