Chicago loves the remix

So since our blog was added to Hype Machine (and use Soundcloud) we get a lot of music sent to us. Most of it is stuff we'd never post because it's either bad or just not relevant to our (primarily) queer blog. However, since we are in Chicago I feel like we should support a couple of local artists who are doing some pretty great stuff.

The first of the songs I'm gonna highlight from Chicago area producers/djs comes from This Guy I Know. We first internet-met TGIK when he sent us over a remix he did of Bright Eyes' First Day of my Life in response to our Valentine's Day post, and we're sure glad he did. TGIK has a way of reworking songs so elegantly that they could easily be mistaken for an original version, and this Yeah Yeah Yeahs Maps remix is no exeception. Good stuff!

The next selections are from Chicago's Midnight Conspiracy. Midnight Conspiracy are producers/djs/party-throwers and bloggers for the Members Only AV blog and are getting a lot of attention for their remixes. They've only put out a couple of remixes so far, but they're both really good, so it makes sense they'd be all over the 'net. I tried to choose which one I liked best to post, but I'm just gonna give you both! Check out a dubstep remix of Esser's Headlock and a hyped up dancefloor version of Chromeo's Night By Night.

O HAI!!!!

This is my mom. On a motorcycle. This is the cute gay part of the post.

Here is some music. Esser is a British (All the pop seems to be way better over there, and no, Lady Gaga does not constitute quality US music) electronic musician. When I first heard him, I couldn't get over the wonky accent. What is up with that? Do I sing with a weirdo Midwest accent? I suppose it's not something one can really help, so I got over it pretty quickly, though not as quickly as getting over the fact that Bea Arthur died and ruined my Halloween costume for 2009. Anyways, he's not really gay, actually I don't think he is at all, but a boy can dream right? He's like the hipster grifter, Natasha Khan, and twink porn all rolled into one. With a dash of "O RLY? SRSLY". Here is am mp3 for his single "Headlock" only it's the Spike Stent remix cause it's a bit more colorful sounding. Seriously, some of these UK pop men need to get gay faster. Love you, boo.

Also, a car just drove by my window blasting Wanda Jackson. Today is going to be a good day.
